- The North Carolina Department of Public Safety has released its 2013 report on safe schools written by the DPS Center for Safer Schools.
- North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed an Executive Order to create the Safer Schools Task Force. The Task Force will be a multidisciplinary advisory board of parents, students, teachers, school administrators, and law enforcement officers on future policy making to improve school safety in North Carolina.
- Members of the Seymour, Connecticut Board of Education were surprised and parents were disappointed to find out there will be no police presence within the Seymour School District this year.
- Norwich, Connecticut police officers were returned to the district’s two middle schools, after the City Council unanimously voted Tuesday to use $150,000 in excess education costs to help pay for the school safety program.
- The Westchester County, New York Board of Legislators Tuesday night approved agreements to allow county police officers to serve as school resource officers in two school districts.
