- The Smyth County, Virginia Board of Supervisors accepted a state grant to help fund two more school resource officers for the public schools. One will be assigned a middle school and the other an elementary school.
- Dowagiac, Michigan Public Schools ran out of city and county funds for the one school resource officer who is based in the middle school but also goes to the high school and elementary schools. They are working on several creative options to help keep the officer.
- The Columbiana, Alabama City Council unanimously approved the hiring of it first school resource officer. The SRO will rotate between all schools within Columbiana city limits.
- Horry County, South Carolina school resource officers mentor kids through “Camp Pride” summer camp.
- The Baldwin, Kansas school board voted unanimously to reintroduce a school resource officer program in its schools after being without an SRO for four years.
- The Plano, Texas Independent School District has decided to invest nearly $1 million in student safety and campus security, including technology, vehicle barriers, and more of a police presence.
